Money laundering and taxes in Agency Life

Updated October 17, 2026

In Agency City there are two kinds of money: clean money in your bank account and dirty cash from crime. Turning one into the other costs a fee, and the tax office is watching. Here is how it all works.

Agency City

Dirty money

Dirty money

Loot from crimes and wages from illegal jobs are dirty money. You can spend cash, but you cannot put it in the bank or use it for official purchases without laundering it first. Dirty cash can also be seized if you are arrested.

Laundering

From 16 you can launder money. Without help you can launder €25,000 a year, plus the laundering capacity of every business you own. The fee starts at 30 percent of the amount.

Income tax

Clean income is taxed every year: salary, pension, rent, business profits and dividends. Dirty money is not taxed. The first €12,000 are tax free, then 12 percent up to €40,000, 22 percent up to €120,000 and 32 percent above that.

€40,000€3,3608 %
€100,000€16,56017 %
€500,000€142,56029 %

Tax advisor

A tax advisor costs €2,500 a year and saves 15 percent of your tax. That pays off from about €100,000 income a year. An advisor also halves back payments in an audit.

Tax audits

The more money you launder in a year compared to your clean income, the more likely an audit becomes, up to 45 percent. In an audit, 35 percent of the laundered money is due, plus a 15 percent penalty without an advisor, and if you laundered more than €150,000, you also get a star. In sandbox mode without police, nobody audits you.

Tips

Launder in small portions spread over the years, and build a solid clean income alongside, because that makes audits less likely. Buy the contact book early if you plan big heists, and get a tax advisor as soon as you earn six figures. More on the businesses in the business guide.
