Prison and police in Agency Life: arrests, appeals and escapes

The wanted level

Crimes give you stars. The more stars you have, the more likely an arrest becomes. Big heists can give you up to five stars at once, illegal jobs add to your wanted level every year.

Shaking off the police

There are several ways to lower your wanted level:

Court

If you are arrested, you go to court. You can hire a lawyer, which costs money but improves your chances. The judge may acquit you, give you probation or send you to prison, and every crime has its own range of sentences. Dirty cash you carry can be seized. Teenagers under 18 get at most one year in juvenile detention.

Every conviction, even probation, goes on your criminal record, and a record bars you from running for mayor.

Life in prison

Prison costs you years, but you can still do things. Once a year you can work in the prison laundry for €1,400 and a bit of mood, train in the yard for fighting, health and respect, or talk to other inmates, which brings respect and sometimes a new member for your crew. You are also more likely to get ill in prison, so look after your health.

Appeal

Once per sentence you can appeal. It costs €6,000 plus €1,500 for every year of your sentence. If the appeal succeeds, your sentence is halved, and short sentences can be overturned completely. Your chance depends on your charm, and a law degree adds a big bonus.

Escape

Once a year you can try to break out with the lock minigame. If it works, you are free immediately, gain 15 respect and get four stars, because the whole city is looking for you. If it fails, you get two extra years and lose health. Train lockpicking before you try.

Protect your money

If you are arrested, the police can find your cash. Hide it in a property you own, and get a guard dog: it barks before the police find your stash. Read more in the real estate guide and the pets guide.
